Three arrested as police recover ‘one-chance vehicle’ in Lagos

The Lagos police command says three men have been arrested for operating a one-chance, a commercial vehicle used to deceive and defraud residents in the state.

In a statement on Tuesday, Benjamin Hundeyin, the police spokesperson in the state, said the suspects abandoned the vehicle when they were stopped by a security operative while trying to drop off a victim on April 14.

He said investigation revealed the suspects stole the vehicle around the Lagos-Badagry expressway in February.

“The suspects had abandoned their operational vehicle, a Suzuki mini bus popularly called ‘korope’ at Gbagada area of Oshodi-Oke along Gbagada–Oshodi expressway, on April 14, 2023, when RRS operatives accosted them while trying to drop off a victim,” the statement reads.

“Investigation revealed that the suspects had earlier hijacked the operational vehicle at gunpoint at Ketu bus stop, Lagos-Badagry Expressway, Ojo sometime in February and the incident was reported at Ijanikin police divisional headquarters.

“The suspects, Wale Ajayi ‘m’ aged 24, Abideen Saka ‘m’ aged 26, and Oliseh Sunday aka Bobwhiskey ‘m’ aged 29, were later arrested at their hideout following weeks of intensive investigation.”

The police spokesperson added that the suspects have been arraigned and remanded in prison.
