In a statement, the school authorities reassured parents and the public that the situation has been “contained”.

School stabbing incidents are rare in the UK, especially for close communities like Ammanford where the institution is situated.

The UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said he was shocked by the incident.

“I want to thank the police and emergency services for their ongoing response and my thoughts are with all those affected,” Sunak said.
