‘Three killed’ as bandits dressed in female attires attack Zamfara community

Bandits have reportedly killed three residents during an attack on Tsafe town in Zamfara state.

Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication in the Lake Chad region, said three other persons sustained injuries during the attack on Sunday.

The publication said the bandits dressed in female attire hijacked a vehicle travelling to Tsafe town along Gusau- Tsafe road.

Quoting an intelligence source, Makama said some other bandits on motorcycles came from Yan Kuzo road and launched an attack through the Funtua-Tsafe highway.

“At least 3 civilians killed while three injured after they were hit by stray bullets during a gunbattle between troops of  Operation Hadarin Daji and bandits who attacked Tsafe town on Sunday, April 21, 2024,” Makama said.

The publication said the bandits also passed through the Tsafe police divisional office in large numbers and shot sporadically.

Makama added that the assailants killed two traders in the Tsafe market, while a woman was hit by a stray bullet.

The publication said those who sustained injuries were taken to a healthcare facility in Gusau, the Zamfara capital.

The publication said some aggrieved youths in the community took to the street to protest against the police officers at the Tsafe division for not engaging the bandits.

Makama added that the Zamfara police command deployed an armoured personnel carrier (APC) to disperse the protesters.
