A Toyota Sienna car plunged into a river along the Sagamu-Benin expressway on Saturday, with three persons confirmed dead.
NAN reports that Florence Okpe, public education officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun, confirmed the incident.
Okpe identified the deceased as three male adults while one other person sustained injuries.
“The accident occurred around 11:55 a.m, and the suspected cause of the crash was excessive speed and loss of control which made the vehicle to plunge into the river,” she said.

Okpe quoted Anthony Uga, the state sector commander of FRSC, as saying speed limit violation by motorists, especially commercial vehicle drivers, is the main cause of road accidents.
“In this case, however, the FRSC sector commander appreciated the efforts of local divers for the rescue operation,” she said.
“We also sympathise with the families of the victims, just as we advise them to contact the FRSC Ogbere outpost for more information about the crash.”
