The police command in Borno says three persons were killed following an attack on Benisheik area of the state by members of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP).

Speaking on Wednesday at a conference with divisional police officers in Maiduguri, the Borno capital, Abdu Umar, commissioner of police in the state, said some security operatives were also abducted, but they escaped.

According to him, the attack occurred on September 24, but a raid by troops helped the security operatives escape.

“The terrorists abducted the security operatives — including one policeman, three CJTF and three hunters,” NAN quoted him as saying.

“They also carted away one Hilux patrol vehicle and we also lost one AK-47 rifle.

“But with support from the air task force, the security men were able to escape after the insurgents scampered into the bush on sighting the Super Tucanos.”

Umar said those killed during the attack included a member of the civilian task force and two commuters, while some vehicles were burnt.
