Three Nigerians on target in Arsenal-Manchester City thriller

Three Nigerian youngsters were on the goal-scoring chart on Sunday as Arsenal defeated Manchester City 3-2 in a friendly match ahead of the 2016-2015 English Premier League.

Alex Iwobi and Chuba Akpom scored in the game, played at the Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Kelechi Iheanacho scored the second for Manchester City, after Sergio Aguero had given Pep Guardiola’s team the lead, latching onto a Raheem Sterling cross to prod the ball home.

Alex Iwobi dragged Arsenal level when his low right-footed shot slipped through the gloves of Joe Hart, in the 50th minute.

Theo Walcott then gained possession on the right touchline, ripping the ball into the heart of City’s defence, a give-and-go with Sanchez, before coolly finishing past Hart.

A terrible pass across the defence was intercepted and despite Kolarov’s challenge, Hart could not dive down to gather it.

The ball rebounded into the path of Akpom and he was left with a simple finish for his fourth goal in as many games to make it 3-1 to the Gunners in the 85th minute.

But there was still time for Navas to pick out Kelechi Iheanacho unmarked in the six-yard box, and he nodded it in for City in the 87th minute to make it 3-2.
