Thugs have attacked Danjuma Goje, senator representing Gombe central, in Gombe state.
The senator’s vehicle was reportedly hit with dangerous weapons on Friday morning while he was making his way into the capital of the state.
In a statement, Lilian Nworie, an aide of the senator, said Goje who is in the state for a personal engagement was prevented from getting into the city after the hoodlums set bonfires.
Nworie said the incident occurred around the International Conference Centre located on Bauchi-Gombe road.

The aide alleged that the thugs are loyal to Inuwa Yahaya, Gombe governor, adding that police officers stationed in the area did not make any effort to stop the chaos.
Yahaya and Goje are said to be at loggerheads over issues bordering on the state and their party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In September, the governor said he did not have a quarrel with Goje.

“There is no row between him and me, it’s only that the party must give everyone q chance and remain honest,” Yahaya had told BBC Hausa at the time.
