My time will come, says Collins after bench-warming outing against Seychelles

Jamilu Collins, Paderborn 07 defender, is optimistic of making his debut for the Super Eagles in no time.

The overlapping full-back was tipped to feature in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Seychelles on Saturday, but he failed to see action.

Collins was kept on the substitutes bench for the entire match duration as Nigeria secured a 3-0 victory.

“Saturday’s game was great. We won for our supporters,” Collins told TheCable.

“We showed our superiority over them. But the condition was unfavourable.

“I wasn’t disappointed because I know the right moment will come. I had a little bit of pain. The coaches did the right thing not to field me.

The win gave the Super Eagles three points and wiped out the goal deficit from the loss to South Africa on matchday 1.

Meanwhile, Leganes central defender Kenneth Omeruo said it was important to keep a clean sheet against Seychelles.

“We are very happy with the result,” Omeruo told TheCable.

“It was a difficult pitch to play. We kept it clean and won 3-0. The team fought hard and didn’t concede.

“It means we have confidence. We need to win the next two games against Libya.”

A victory over Libya in Kaduna on October 13 would brighten Nigeria’s chances of booking a place in the 2019 AFCON.
