Timor-Leste president to speak at Femi Badejo’s 70th birthday symposium

President José Ramos-Horta of Timor-Leste will attend a symposium celebrating the 70th birthday of Femi Badejo, a former diplomat and author.

The event will be held on March 4 at the TETFund lecture theatre of faculty of social sciences, University of Lagos.

Ramos-Horta, a Nobel Peace Prize recipient, will kick off the symposium with an opening session themed “The Politics of Power: Interrogating the Role of Special Interests in Nigeria’s Development.”

Adele Jinadu, a professor, will deliver the keynote address, while Ike Nwachukwu, former foreign affairs minister, will chair the panel discussion session.

On March 15, Toyin Falola, the renowned Nigerian historian and African studies professor, will present a birthday lecture titled “Power, Privilege & Philosophy” at the UNILAG Estate in Magodo, Lagos.

The celebrations will wrap up on March 17 with a history and heritage tour of the Prince Yemisi Shyllon Museum at Pan African University, Lagos.
