Tinubu arrives Imo for Uzodinma’s swearing-in

President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Imo to attend the inauguration of Hope Uzodinma’s second term in office.

The swearing-in ceremony is taking place at the Dan Anyiam stadium in Owerri, the capital city.

After attending the swearing-in event, the president is expected to inaugurate some projects completed by Uzodinma’s administration.

Uzodinma, who served as governor from 2020, defeated Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Athan Achonu of the Labour Party (LP) to win the governorship election in November 2023.

The governor contested the election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He polled 540,308 votes to beat the PDP and LP candidates who scored 71,503 and 64,081 votes respectively.

Uzodinma became governor in January 2020 following a supreme court verdict that nullified the election of Emeka Ihedioha of the PDP.
