Shina Peller, a former member of the house of representatives, says President Bola Tinubu as the chair of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is a “beam of renewed hope for the African continent”.

Tinubu was elected chair of the regional body at the 63rd ordinary session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government in Bissau, the capital city of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau on Sunday.

Peller said Tinubu’s election is a testament to the vision of Nigeria’s “founding fathers” who had wanted the country to play a key role in Africa.

The former lawmaker expressed optimism that Tinubu’s administration will implement the desired changes in the country.
