Mohammed Abba Isa (seated)

Mohammed Isa, senior special adviser to President Bola Tinubu on special needs and equal opportunities, says the administration is committed to ensuring inclusive education for persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Isa said the government has taken decisive steps to ensure that persons with special needs have access to education across the country.

He said this at a public hearing on a bill to amend the federal colleges of education Act to establish the Federal College of Education (Special) in Dukku, Gombe state.

He said Nigerians of all ethnic groups can benefit from the college when it is established.

Isa said the college is the first of its kind in northern Nigeria in addressing the unique needs of students with disabilities.

“The college aims to nurture specialised educators, promote educational equity and foster inclusive learning environments,” he said.

“Its regional and national significance lies in serving as a model for special education, attracting diverse students and educators and contributing to the national effort to improve education for individuals with disabilities.”
