President-elect Bola Tinubu has condemned the attack on a US consulate convoy in Anambra state.
In a statement issued on Friday by Tunde Rahman, Tinubu’s spokesperson, the president-elect said he will ensure the “perpetrators are brought to justice”.
On Tuesday, gunmen attacked a convoy conveying staff of the US consulate, officers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and some civilians.
Ikenga Tochukwu, Anambra police spokesperson, had said two police operatives were killed alongside two staff of the consulate.

The bodies of the victims were said to have been set ablaze by the gunmen.
Tinubu said upon his assumption in office, he will give priority to the protection of the lives and properties of every Nigerian.
“President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu is deeply shocked to learn of the attack on United States Embassy convoy just hours after his telephone call with the Secretary of State Antony Blinken,” the statement reads.

“He expresses his sympathy and condolences to the US Government and families of the four personnel killed in the horrific attack at Ogabru, Anambra State.
“President-elect Tinubu has been making his own enquiries into the persons responsible and their motives and will do all he can to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
“Security is one of the cardinal issues on the agenda of Asíwájú Tinubu and will give it priority attention on the resumption of office, which is why it featured prominently in his discussion with Secretary Blinken.”
