Lucky Aiyedatiwa, governor of Ondo, has commended President Bola Tinubu on his handling of the nation’s economy.
Speaking with journalists after a public lecture on Wednesday, the governor emphasised the need for every Nigerian to contribute their quota to bolstering the economy.
“We all have work to do to bring up the economy,” the governor said.
Organised by the Treasure Newspaper, the lecture was themed: ‘Home Grown Economy as Road Map for Economic Sustainability: Examining the Prospects under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Administration’.

The governor was represented at the event by Wale Akinlosotu, commissioner of information in Ondo.
Aiyedatiwa said Nigeria is not immune to the global challenge of inflation, while expressing optimism that the country will emerge from its economic challenge a stronger nation.
He highlighted Ondo state’s willingness to collaborate with the media and concerned bodies in the fight against corruption.

Aiyedatiwa disagreed with imposing death sentences as punishment for embezzlement, emphasising Nigeria’s status as a nation governed by laws.
He said existing legislation is sufficient to handle cases of fund mismanagement, making capital punishment unnecessary.
The public lecture seeks to foster dialogue on economic sustainability, and was attended by dignitaries, media professionals, and concerned citizens.
