PHOTOS: Tinubu meets traditional rulers, moves to avert nationwide protest

President Bola Tinubu is currently meeting with traditional rulers from across the country at the State House in Abuja.

The royal fathers were led by Muhammad Abubakar III, Sultan of Sokoto, and Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife.

The reason for the meeting was not immediately known, but TheCable understands that it could be part of moves by the president to avert the planned protest against the economic hardship in the country.

The president has held meetings with different stakeholders over the planned nationwide protest.

Tinubu met with governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

State governors have urged residents not to partake in the protest.

The United Nations (UN) has also warned that there are possibilities of certain groups with ulterior interests hijacking the protest which may lead to violence.

Vice-President Kashim Shettima; Nuhu Ribadu, national security adviser (NSA); Wale Edun, minister of finance and coordinating minister of the economy; and Atiku Bagudu, minister of budget and economic planning, also joined Tinubu at the meeting with traditional rulers.

AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, governor of Kwara and chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), and Hope Uzodimma, governor of Imo and chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, were also seen joining the meeting.
