Anambra awards contracts to tackle erosion, flood in Awka

The Anambra state executive council (ANSEC) has approved the award of contracts for the control of flood and gully erosion in Agu Awka GRA.

In a statement, Paul Nwosu, commissioner for information in the state, said the gully erosion is threatening the Anambra government house, buildings around the vicinity, and the lives of residents.

“The non-channelization of floodwater within the area has been responsible for the exacerbation of the gully erosion site,” he said.

ANSEC approved the contract after due consideration of the memo presented by Ifeanyi Okoma, commissioner for works.
