The Allied Conservative Congress (ACC) says it has written to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for registration as a political party.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Abubakar Sadiq, ACC national publicity secretary, said the party was formed to “rescue Nigeria” from sliding into “anarchy, economic depression, political upheavals and hopelessness”.

Sadiq said ACC is “strongly determined to sail Nigerians to a greater and brighter destination and make the country great again with its conservation ideology”.

“The clear provisions of the 1999 Constitution are neglected and observed in the breach by past and present governments in Nigeria since the restoration of democracy in 1999,” the statement reads.

“It is this hijacking of the government by a cabal and exclusion of the people in the affairs of government that led to the horrible situation of Nigeria today and the urgent need to rescue and salvage it immediately.

“All patriotic Nigerians and lovers of democracy have seen the need for the formation of a new political movement that will pioneer and pilot the rescue mission of our beloved country before it is too late.”

ACC said instead of improving the well-being of citizens, existing political parties have “impoverished them which resulted in the current national tragedy, disillusionment and confusion in governance”.

Sadiq said the AAC is “resolved to make a difference and stand out among the motley crowd of political groups and parties that are promoting democracy in Nigeria and seeking the people’s mandate to rule”.

He said the party “has structures across the 36 states of the federation and Abuja”.

According to the party’s spokesperson, leaders and members of ACC are “men and women of honor, integrity, probity, with exceeding passion to make Nigeria forever great by restoring sanity, morality, honesty, uprightness, national cohesion, unity and patriotism”.

“Nigerian people who belong to our political movement have equal stake in the movement irrespective of ethnicity, religion and gender,” the statement reads.

“ACC members are guided by its motto which is ‘Sailing Nigerians to a Greater Destination’. Its flag consists of three equal sized vertical curved stripes, green, white and purple and the movement’s logo inside the white part of the flag.

“Green represents Agriculture, White represents Peace, Purple represents strength, while canoe represents sailing Nigerians to a greater destination.

“Logo of the political movement is a map of Nigeria edged coloured purple with a canoe inside coloured brown, abbreviation of the movement’s name, ACC in purple and its slogan forever great in purple under the map and name of the movement, Allied Conservative Congress in green, purple and green, above the map. Its slogan is forever great.

“It shall contribute in deepening democracy in the country and ushering a new era of conservative ideology anchored on patriotism and integrity in the service to the fatherland which will accelerate political and socio-economic development of the country, and where citizens will hold government accountable.

“Citizens’ failure to hold government accountable is the remote cause of Nigeria as a failed state today resulting to a reign of terror and total lack of fear of God amongst leaders and people.

“ACC will henceforth intervene in crucial national issues that will strengthen our democracy and return power to the people on who sovereignty resides.”
