The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), says it has commenced market inspections in Bauchi to “mop up fake Milo drinks”.
Speaking during the exercise on Wednesday, Paul Kamai, the state’s NAFDAC director, said the inspection will last for three days.
“The NAFDAC office began the inspections in markets and superstores to get rid of the fake Milo in circulation following a directive from the Headquarters,” NAN quoted Kamai as saying.
Kamai said the agency has planned a meeting with leaders of the agro-chemical dealers’ association to address the harmful effects of chemicals on food.

“In Bauchi, we will engage the dealers of Agro chemicals against the use of Dictholoruvis and Paraquat chemicals to store food as we approach harvest period,” he said.
“These are dangerous chemicals that have been banned over time.”
The Bauchi NAFDAC director urged bakers and packaged water producers to renew their licences within the designated two-year period, adding that non-compliance could lead to penalties that might disrupt their business operations.

Kamai asked small and medium enterprises to obtain NAFDAC registration for their products, which will enable them gain access to the Nigerian market.
