WAFU Cup: Togo’s Hawks prey on Eagles, claim superiority with two goals

Togo showed superiority over Nigeria for the second time in seven days with a 2-1 victory at the WAFU Cup on Sunday.

The Hawks had clipped the wings of the Eagles with 4-1 scoresheet in the first leg of the African Nations Championship qualifier in Lome.

With revenge at the back of their mind, the Imama Amapakabo-managed team crumbled in Senegal.

Adjahli Kossi Moses, a central midfielder, showed composure to strike a dagger at the Eagles for the curtain-raiser.

Sikiru Alimi, the former Sunshine Stars and Warri Wolves striker, equalised for the 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations vice-champions.

With two minutes left in the first half, an own goal from Olisa Ndah helped Togo go in front for the second time.

Nigeria will face the loser between Cote d’Ivoire Vs Cape Verde game in the second phase for the classification match.
