News broke late on Saturday that Maje Ayida, fitness enthusiast and husband of Rhythm 93.7 OAP and all-round media personality Toke Makinwa, had impregnated his ex-girlfriend, Anita Solomon, and it’s been the biggest piece of gossip fodder till now.
The story, which originated from Stella Dimokorkus blog, was authoritatively reported, leaving very little room for any doubt.
It gained even more credibility when it was evident that Toke had deleted most of Maje’s pictures from her Instagram account – pictures she previously posted in celebration of their relationship before the news.
The social media fallout was a wave of passionate condemnation directed at the allegedly cheating husband. Maje has been called all sorts of derogatory names and cursed to bits. He’s probably the most hated man by most Nigerian women at this point, while most of the pacifists seemed to be coming from the men’s camp.

However, his reaction turned out to be quite baffling. In these sort of situations, one might expect some vague and proverbial response on the inevitable fallibility of human nature or weathering the storm of life’s challenges.
Instead, his next post on his Instagram page read like it was back to business as usual, focusing on the upside of fitness in an attempt to deflect attention and criticism.
Unfortunately the attention was not diverted and criticism didn’t let up but even took a different dimension to the extent that commenters started dragging one another for having disagreeable views on his comment section. Toke is mostly branded as a victim of a misguided man and on the other side there is also the ridicule that comes with being someone of status.

Although she hasn’t addressed the allegations directly, her recent posts are instructive of her mindset. It looks Toke is making best efforts to put on a brave face, trying to stay positive and use work to distract her emotions.
