Team Nigeria’s Ese Brume, on Sunday, secured the ticket to the final of the women’s long jump at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics.

Brume leapt to a 6.76 meter distance to finish fifth overall and a centimeter ahead of the automatic qualification point.

Spanovic Ivana of Serbia leapt the longest distance of 7.00m to finish first overall of the day.

Brume had finished third to claim the bronze medal at the 2019 World Athletics Championship held in Doha, Qatar.

The 25-year-old have Malaika Mihambo, reigning WAC gold medalist from Germany, America’s duo of Brittney Reese and Tara Davis and Malone Ellen Chantel of British Virgin Island to contend with for a medal.

The final will commence on Tuesday, August 3 at 11:45 am.
