Toriola to chair ATTF athletes’ committee

Segun Toriola has been named chairman of the newly-constituted Africa Table Tennis Federation (ATTF) athletes’ committee.

Khaled El-Salhy, president of the African Table Tennis Federation (ATTF), said that the committee is made up of players from the seven zones across Africa, including the continental representative in the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).

“I have the pleasure to inform you that ATTF has decided to compose a new African Athletes Committee starting of January 2015 by nomination for the coming two years, then by the end of 2016 and in the next African Congress Meeting to be held in Morocco we will have elections among all delegates for the whole ATTF Council Board for four years and elections among all participating players for ATTF Athletes Committee for four years,” El-Salhy said.

Toriola emerged from zone three while other members of the newly-constituted committee are Moh Sofiene Boudjadja (Algeria) of Zone 1, Mohamed Gueye (Senegal) of Zone 2, Sarrah Hannfou (Cameroun) of Zone 4, Osama Mohamed (Sudan) of Zone 5, Danisha Patel  (South Africa) of Zone 6, Widaad Gukhool (Mauritius) of Zone 7, while El-Sayed Lashin (Egypt) is ex-official member as ITTF Athletes Committee member.

The new committee takes effect from January 2015, while their tenure will expire in 2016, when an election into the committee will hold at the next ATTF Congress in Morocco in 2016.
