Toyin Aimakhu: I don’t want to make a mistake trying to please fans

“In the end we are both at fault, I held on too tight, he didn’t hold on enough”, says an introspective Toyin Aimakhu, Nollywood actress, as fans continue to urge her to reunite with estranged husband, Adeniyi Johnson.

The pair got married in a quiet traditional wedding in February 2013 and five months later, they signed the dotted lines at a registry, in Ikoyi, Lagos.

But their union was short-lived and by December 2014, their falling out began. It eventually reached a head in January 2015 when they were reported to have separated.

Ever since, fans of the the couple, who are both actors, have made several pleas for them to rekindle their ill-fated romance.

In an old interview with The Punch, Johnson denied reaching out to Aimakhu for reconciliation.

“This is a blatant lie. In fact, the reverse is even the case. I can’t even remember the last time I spoke to her; it probably was sometime last year. I have never called her since this controversy started. But she has been the one calling me. I have a lot of evidence to prove this”, he said.

Speaking recently in a post on her Instagram page, Aimakhu inferred that she’s not predisposed to reconciling with Johnson.

The movie producer also expressed her bewilderment at the number of “messages” she gets from fans who plead that she should reverse the break-up.

She however, begged them to “let God take the wheels… somethings are nice physically but not spiritually and some spiritually but not physically, God will lead me, let him lead us pls.”

Aimakhu further stressed that, “I don’t want to make any mistake trying to please you fans I really do appreciate the love and I’m sure he does too.”

“If God says yes no man can ever say no and if he says no then no man can ever say yes”, the actress added.
