Although their husbands are currently not on speaking terms, Toyin Saraki, wife of Senate President Bukola Saraki, on Tuesday stood in for Aisha Buhari, wife of President Muhammadu Buhari at a United Nations meeting.
Toyin delivered the speech of the president’s wife at the Organisation of African First Ladies Against HIV/AIDS (OAFLA) organised on the sidelines of the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Wife of the senate president took to Twitter to announce this.
Toyin and Aisha were seen in public functions before recent political developments. Both women toured different parts of the country during the electioneering period and they were also seen at different programmes in the presidential villa in the early days of the current administration.

Toyin is currently being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged corruption.
Some believe that her trial is connected with the crisis in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) after her husband’s emergence as senate president against the wish of his party.
