Tribunal bans cameras from Saraki’s trial

‎The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), where the trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki for alleged false declaration of assets will continue on Wednesday, says the use of cameras in its courtroom during proceedings is now outlawed.

This was not the case in September when the senate president was arraigned before the tribunal by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).

‎On the day of the arraignment, Saraki was seen in the accused box, and pictures of that “embarrassing” scene were circulated on social media.

On two occasions, Saraki had failed to stop his trial at the CCT.

Ahmed Mohammed, justice of the federal high court, Abuja, who was initially handling the case involving Saraki, the‎ CCB and CCT, withdrew from it, citing a “crisis of confidence”.

‎Also, on Monday, the appeal court had adjourned ruling on the case indefinitely.

At present, there is a heavy presence of the police‎ and men of the Department of State Services (DSS), who are conducting thorough search on people coming into the premises of the tribunal.

Proceedings are expected to start at 10 am.
