Jones Onyereri, deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 11 election, has rejected the tribunal verdict on Ideato North and South Federal Constituency of Imo state.
The national and state house of assembly election petitions tribunal, on Sunday, sacked Ikenga Ugochinyere as lawmaker representing the constituency.
But in a statement, Onyereri wondered how Ugochinyere who won his election by the majority votes cast in the February election could be removed by the court.
Onyereri said it has been established that pre-election matters are not inter party affairs but intra party, and only a political party determines who their candidates are.

He said the Supreme Court had ruled on the pre-election matter as it concerns Ugochinyere before the general election and the ruling was in favour of the lawmaker.
“I see no reason the tribunal should overrule the supreme court on the same matter that was ruled by the Apex court in the land. Justice Akpovi led judgement should be reviewed and records set straight for the sake of posterity,” he said.
Meanwhile, Onyereri has urged the teeming supporters, fans and leaders of Ideato North and South Federal Constituency and members of the PDP to be calm and remain law abiding, expressing confidence in the Court of Appeal to do justice “to the good people of Ideato Nation and Imo people at large, because Ikenga’s victory at the poll was Divine as it was victory for Imo people”.
