Nigerian troops have successfully expelled Boko Haram militants from Monguno and the surrounding areas of Borno state, the defence headquarters has said.
Monguno was captured by Boko Haram in January when the terror group launched multiple attacks on Maiduguri from different entry points.
The Nigerian military had warded off the terrorists from Maiduguri, but Monguno fell.
On Monday, the Nigerian military announced via its official Twitter handle @DefenceInfoNG that it had expelled the insurgents from Monguno.
