Samuel Aruwan, the Kaduna state commissioner for internal security and home affairs, says troops foiled attacks on communities in Sabon Birni, Igabi local government of the state on Saturday night.

A statement released on Sunday quoted Aruwan as saying the Kaduna government was informed of the development during a visit to Sabon Birni with the heads of security agencies in the state.

The commissioner commended the troops on behalf of Nasir el-Rufai, the governor, adding that the soldiers showed bravery and courage in securing communities.

“We are here on behalf of Governor Nasir el-Rufai to commend troops who successfully foiled coordinated attacks by bandits on Saturday night,” Aruwan said.

“The troops showed bravery and courage in securing communities in the general area. We are here to thank them, and to ask for more from them.

“From your end, we solicit support and cooperation for troops and all the personnel working here.

“We have to work together because security is participatory, involving government, security agencies and citizens. Citizens are at the center of these efforts.”
