Troops of Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) have reportedly killed ten suspected bandits in Zamfara.
According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication based in the Lake-Chad region, the bandits were neutralised after running into an ambush mounted by the troops along Gadan Zaima-Dan Marke area in Bukkuyum LGA of the state on Tuesday.
Sources in the military told the publication that during the gun duel, troops freed six captives who were kidnapped by the bandits in a forest between Mahuta and Zuru in Kebbi state.
One of the sources said while some of the bandits were killed, others were captured alive.

He added that six AK-47 rifles, a self-propelled machine gun (GPMG), over N1 million in cash, mobile phones and Marijuana were recovered during the operation.

While commending the troops on the success of the operation, Godwin Mutkut, OPHD commander, charged them not to rest until all bandits’ enclaves and hideouts are cleared.
Mutkut assured that no hideout will be left untouched in his area of operational responsibility.

During the operation, the troops captured four terrorists and destroyed six hideouts in the Sambisa forest.
