Troops ‘kill 4 insurgents’ inside Borno school

The Nigerian army announced on Monday that four members of the Boko Haram sect were killed at a primary school in Borno state during an exchange with soldiers on Sunday.

Sani Usman, army spokesman, confirmed this in a statement issued on Monday, saying the incident happened during a raid on Duwabafi village.

He said some weapons were siezed during the operation.

“Soldiers who were on fighting patrol to rid elements of the terrorists from their camps encountered the suspected elements holed up at the Primary School in Duwabafi village, Borno State, on Sunday”, the statement read.

“There was heavy exchange of gunfire in which the patrol killed 4 suspected Boko Haram terrorists, recovered 2 AK-47 rifles, 4 various sizes of solar energy panels, several types of drugs and 5 motorcycles.

“The patrol has returned to base and is further re-strategizing for more onslaughts on all remaining vestiges of Boko Haram elements within the area.”

Borno is the state worse-hit by activities of Boko Haram.

The military has been doing its best to meet the December target given by President Muhammadu Buhari to end activities of the sect.
