The Nigerian Army says its troops have killed a bandit and recovered one AK 47 rifle in Kaduna.
The operation was carried out by troops of I Division at Chikun and Kajuru LGA of Kaduna.
Musa Yahaya, acting deputy director army public relations of the division, disclosed the development in a statement on Wednesday.
He said the troops, acting on credible intelligence, laid an ambush on a bandits’ route on Kwant-Kabai-Kubusu road, on Wednesday.

Yahaya said the operation was part of the army’s effort to clear bandits, terrorists and other criminal elements from Kaduna forests.
He said during the operation and the gun duel that ensued, one bandit was neutralised while others fled with gunshot wounds.
“One AK 47 rifle, one magazine, veterinary medicine and clothing where recovered,” the statement reads.

Yahaya added that Valentine Okoro, general officer commanding the division, commended the troops for their resilience and implored the locals to support security agencies with timely and credible intelligence.
On Tuesday, the Nigerian army had said its personnel neutralised three bandits and recovered weapons in Kaduna.
The army said that troops seized one AK 47 rifle, one locally fabricated AK 47 rifle, quantity four of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition and one mobile phone.
