Troops ‘kill bandit kingpin’ in Zamfara, rescue kidnap victims

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) says the troops of Operation Hadarin Daji, have eliminated a notorious bandit kingpin identified as Bada at Yar Tashar village in Maru LGA of Zamfara state.

According to NAN, Musa Danmadami, director of defence media operations, said Bada was killed when the troops responded to an attack on farmers who were harvesting.

According to Danmadami, Bada was said to have also launched an attack on Yar Tashar market on October 13, which led to the death of farmers.

Danmadami added that on Sunday, the troops also responded to another bandit attack on Gamraki village, and rescued some kidnap victims.

He said during the encounter, arms and ammunition were recovered, adding that one bandit was neutralised, while others fled with gunshot injuries.

“Troops recovered one motorcycle, some weapons and valuables,” he said.

“The military high command commends troops of Operation Hadarin Daji and encourages the general public to avail troops with credible and timely information on criminal activities.”
