The Nigerian army says its soldiers on Monday killed four militia herdsmen in Guma local government area of Benue state.
In a statement on Tuesday, Texas Chukwu, army spokesman, said this followed a gun battle between the soldiers and the herdsmen.
He said troops of 72 special forces battalion had intercepted 20 militia herdsmen while on patrol at Teguma village in Guma.
“Four of the militia herdsmen were neutralised during the encounter while others fled following superior gun power,” the statement read.
