Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have reportedly killed Abu Rijab, identified as a Boko Haram commander, and two other suspected terrorists in Sambisa forest, Borno state.

According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad region, the troops — HYBRID and civilian joint task force (CJTF) — in an operation on Saturday targetted the terrorists’ camp in Bula Daloje general area of Bama LGA.

Zagazola said the troops’ attack was met by an ambush staged by the insurgents on their way to their hideout, resulting in a heavy gun battle.

The troops successfully repelled the attack, killing the terrorists and forcing others to withdraw. But unfortunately, one hybrid force personnel sustained gunshot wounds and later died.
