Troops of 195 battalion, operation Hadin Kai, have reportedly killed three Boko Haram insurgents in Jere area of Maiduguri, the Borno capital.
The troops, in partnership with the civilian joint task force, were said to have encountered the insurgents during a routine farmers’ protection patrol on Tuesday.
The insurgents were said to have been sighted on several motorcycles around Azaya Kura general area in Jere LGA.
According to Zagazola Makama, a publication focused on counter-insurgency operations in the Lake Chad region, during a gun battle with the insurgents, three of them were killed, while the rest were said to have fled into the bush with bullet injuries.

The troops were also said to have recovered some weapons and motorcycle from the insurgents.
“The incident occurred on July 26 when the troops on routine farmers’ protection patrol, in conjunction with the civilian joint task force, came in contact with the terrorists on several motorcycles in Azaya Kura general area in Jere, close to Maiduguri, at about 1250 hours,” the report reads.
“The neutralised Boko Haram is suspected to be around 18-year-old during exploitation. Traces of blood were also observed on the insurgents’ escape route.”

Meanwhile, the development comes amid efforts by troops of operation Hadin Kai to fight insurgency in the north-east.
