Troops kill ‘top ISWAP commander’ in Sambisa forest

Troops of the Operation Hadin Kai have killed Ibn Kaseer, a top ISWAP commander, alongside three of his fighters.

Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication covering the Lake Chad region, noted that the operation took place during a raid in Sambisa forest on the morning of September 12.

The report added that soldiers from the 21 Brigade, working with Hybrid forces, carried out the mission in Kashomeri village based on reliable intelligence.

Kaseer, infamous for terrorising the Geizuwa and Yale axis, had attempted to hide with his family in Kashomeri.

However, his location was uncovered, leading to his killing alongside two of his lieutenants. One of the lieutenants was identified as Bulamadu.

The operation took place while Kaseer’s men were on a mission in Jalumeri.

Four women and children were rescued during the operation while some family members of the terrorists surrendered to the army at Konduga.
