Troops raid bandits’ hideouts in Zamfara, rescue ‘22 abductees’

Troops of operation hadarim daji have reportedly rescued 22 kidnap victims during a raid on bandits’ hideouts in Zamfara.

Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, said the abductees were freed after the troops at Dansadau engaged the bandits in a gun battle on Wednesday.

The publication said the soldiers, led by the commanding officer of the battalion, killed many of the bandits in the encounter.

The rescued victims who are 16  males and four females were taken to the Dansadau area of the state for further action.

In another development, troops of sect 1, team 10  deployed at Wasagu delivered two residents who escaped from bandits’ hideout in Birnin Gwari forest.

According to the publication, the two kidnap victims spent 14 days in captivity, adding that they have been handed over to the Magaji (a traditional title holder) in Wasagu.

Zagazola Makama said two bandits were killed by troops of the forward operating base in Anka, during a patrol in Makakari village in Gwashi, Bukuyyum LGA of the state.

The soldiers also foiled an attempt by bandits to abduct one comrade Nura at Kwatarkwashi village in Bungudu LGA.

However, the bandits had fled the residence of the victim before the arrival of the men who responded to a distress call.
