Personnel of the Nigerian army reportedly foiled an attack by members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) on Monguno LGA of Borno.
Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, said the insurgents were engaged by the troops of Sector 3 multi-national joint task force (MNJTF).
Makama said the terrorists stormed the area on several Hilux trucks mounted with anti-aircraft guns on Thursday.
The publication said some of the terrorists rode on motorcycles, while those who were on foot attacked the troops at Charlie 6 in Monguno town.
