Troops of 3 Battalion Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have repelled an attack by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) on Gamborun Ngala LGA of Borno state.
According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, the terrorists stormed the community on Hilux trucks and motorcycles, attacked the military formation and began shooting sporadically.
The ISWAP attack was successfully repelled with the support of troops reinforced from the headquarters of the battalion.
The publication said an unconfirmed number of terrorists were reportedly killed as troops observed blood stains on the route the terrorists took.

Meanwhile, one civilian truck conveying goods heading to Maiduguri from Gamboru Ngala, was hit by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
The IED was said to have damaged the truck, injuring the driver and passenger. The victims were evacuated to Gamboru General Hospital for treatment.
The development comes days after troops killed six ISWAP fighters while repelling an attack in Sabon Gari in Damboa LGA of Borno.
