Troops attached to the convoy of Babagana Zulum, governor of Borno, have reportedly repelled an attack by Boko Haram terrorists along the Buni Gari-Buni Yadi road.
Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, reported that an unconfirmed number of terrorists were killed during the firefight that ensued, while seven abducted travelers were rescued.
Citing intelligence sources, Makama said the convoy included troops of operation Hadin Kai, the police crack team, and top government officials returning from Biu LGA of Borno when the terrorists attempted to abduct travelers from a Volkswagen car.
The publication said the governor had traveled by helicopter and was not in the convoy at the time of the attack.
