Troops ‘rescue’ 57 women, children from terrorists’ hideouts in Borno

Troops of the Nigerian Army (NA) have reportedly rescued 57 kidnap victims from terrorists in Sambisa forest, Bama LGA of Borno.

Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, said the operation was conducted by troops of Operation Lake Sanity III and Operation Hadin Kai.

The publication said the troops killed six of the terrorists during a patrol of the hideouts of Boko Haram insurgents.

The troops conducted the operation in collaboration with operatives of the Hybrid force and CJTF on July 12.

An intelligence source told Makama that some of the terrorists escaped with gunshot injuries.

The publication said the rescued victims are 20 adult females and 37 children.

Makama added that the troops recovered one Dane gun and destroyed all life support structures at the enclave.

Recently, troops killed 14 gunmen during a raid on the hideouts of Boko Haram terrorists in Sambisa forest.
