Troops rescue wife of Plateau deputy governor’s aide

Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued Tabitha, wife of Silas Vem, deputy chief of staff to Sonny Tyoden, deputy governor of Plateau state.

TheCable had reported that Tabitha was kidnapped on Sunday near her residence in Jos, the state capital.

In a statement on Tuesday, Ishaku Takwa, army spokesperson of operation safe haven, said troops also rescued Samuel Audu, a director at the ministry of health in Plateau, who was kidnapped on Monday.

Takwa said the victims were abducted by the same gang and were rescued on Tuesday.

“Troops of OPSH have rescued Mrs Tabitha Silas, the wife of the deputy chief of staff, deputy governor’s office, Plateau state, from kidnappers,” Takwa said.

“Silas was also rescued along with Dr Audu Samuel, the medical director, Allah Na Kowa Clinic and Maternity, Barkin Ladi.

“Silas was kidnapped on Sunday, January 9, at her residence in little Rayfield, Jos, while Samuel was kidnapped on Monday, January 10, at his residence in Barkin Ladi by the same gang.

“The rescued victims have been reunited with their families.”
