Five women have been reportedly crushed to death when a truck loaded with sand bumped into their vehicle along Gubio road in Maiduguri, the Borno capital.
Gubio is one of the LGA greatly affected by the activities of insurgents in Borno.

Many residents have been killed, farmlands and houses destroyed, while others have been rendered homeless during attacks by terrorists in Gubio and other affected LGAs in the state.
According to Zagazola Makama, a publication focused on the Lake Chad region, the incident occurred on Friday at Shagari Lowcost Junction in Gubio LGA.
An eye witness told Zagazola that the women were on their way to the farm when a sand-loaded truck collided with their vehicle.

The publication said the tipper driver had suffered a brake failure while trying to overtake another truck and ran into the truck carrying the women.
An angry mob, including motorists, were said to have stormed the location of the auto crash and set the two trucks responsible for the accident ablaze.

Security agencies, however, have been mobilised to the location of the crash to ensure the situation is brought under control.
