Donald Trump, American billionaire and Republican party front runner, has finally secured enough votes to run for president of the US.
According to AP, Trump clinched 1,238 votes, one vote more than the necessary number of votes necessary needed to lead the Republican Party to the general election in November,2016.
Republican presidential hopefuls need to win 1,237 delegates to secure the party’s nomination.
These 1,237 include pledged delegates, which are awarded through state primary and caucus votes, and unbound delegates, which consist of party elites who can vote however they choose.

Trump’s numbers are made up of 1,150 pledged delegates, and another 88 unbound delegates.
After winning in Washington, Trump said he has broken an all-time record in the party history, just a few hours into his confirmed victor.
“Thank you Washington! Honored to say, on behalf of our great movement, we have broken the all-time record for votes in GOP primary history,” he wrote on Twitter.

In his usual style, he took a swipe at Hillary Clinton based on fresh revelations from her growing E-mail scandal.
“The Inspector General’s report on Crooked Hillary Clinton is a disaster. Such bad judgement and temperament cannot be allowed in the W.H (White House),” he said.
Though mathematically advantaged, Clinton is yet to clinch her party’s ticket, with less than 100 votes short of the Democratic Party’s 2,383 mark.
Bernie Sanders, Clinton’s arch rival, has agreed to debate Donald Trump on June 7, 2016, adding that he looks forward to debating the business mogul.
