Trump ‘favoured’ to become next US president

American businessman, Donald Trump; Ben Carson, one of the world’s best neurosurgeons; and Hilary Clinton, former US secretary of states, have been polled as most favoured candidates to led America in 2016.

Incumbent vice president, Joe Biden, who recently received Barrack Obama’s blessings to run for president in 2016, also fared well in the poll released on Thursday.

According to the Quinnipiac University poll, Trump led the GOP presidential competition garnering 28 per cent support from registered Republican voters in the 17-member field.

Ben Carson was the closest to the real estate mogul, tallying 12 percent of the ‘votes’ cast.

Jeb Bush, former Florida governor and brother of former president George Bush, scored his poll lowest since December 2013, recording just 7 percent.

Those results show just how far both Trump (now the Republican front-runner) and Bush (the old one) have come, CNN reports.

Bush led national polls for much of the first half of 2015, but was quickly dislodged by Trump after he announced his presidential ambitions this June.

Ted Cruz of Texas and Marco Rubio of Florida both are tied with Bush at 7 percent, while Wisconsin governor, Scott Walker, and former tech CEO, Carly Fiorina, garnered 6 percent and 5 percent respectively.

“Trump proves you don’t have to be loved by everyone, just by enough Republicans to lead the GOP pack,” an expert said.

Biden, who lost his son earlier in the year, is currently sporting the highest favourability rating among the 2016 candidates polled from either party. He is yet to declared his intention to run due to “lack of emotional fuel”.
