Former US President Donald Trump is returning to X for a live interview with Elon Musk, the owner of the microblogging platform.
Trump’s last post on X before the announcement of his return on Monday was in August 2023—a mugshot released after he left jail.
The charges against the former US president bordered on his attempts to overturn Georgia’s 2020 election results.
The post was also Trump’s first in over two years after his account was banned after the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol by his supporters.

Musk later restored his account shortly after he acquired X and said it was his commitment to “free speech” that made him reinstate Trump.
In his comeback post, Trump shared a two-and-a-half-minute video on his X account, featuring moments from his time in office.
The clip also featured some of the former president’s standard campaign lines referencing the legal hurdles against him.

“They’re not coming after me; they’re coming after you, and I just happen to be standing in their way, and I will never be moving,” he said.
Trump has just over 7.5 million followers on Truth Social, his social media platform, while his mostly dormant X account is followed by 88 million.
Musk’s account has over 193 million followers.
The interview is set to be held at 8 pm eastern time (1 am local time) on X spaces today.
