US President Donald Trump says he ordered air strikes on ISIS terrorists in Somalia Saturday morning.
In a post on X, Trump said the precision strikes were carried out on the “Senior ISIS Attack Planner and other terrorists he recruited”.
“These killers, who we found hiding in caves, threatened the United States and our Allies,” he wrote.
“The strikes destroyed the caves they live in, and killed many terrorists without, in any way, harming civilians.

“Our Military has targeted this ISIS Attack Planner for years, but Biden and his cronies wouldn’t act quickly enough to get the job done.
“I did! The message to ISIS and all others who would attack Americans is that ‘WE WILL FIND YOU, AND WE WILL KILL YOU.”
In a separate statement, Pete Hegseth, defense secretary, said the strikes would degrade the terrorist group’s ability to plan future attacks.

While the US military has routinely struck targets in the East African nation in recent years, Saturday’s strikes would be among the first Trump has ordered during his second term in office.
Past targets of US air strikes in Somalia include fighters from ISIS and the group al-Shabaab, which is associated with al Qaeda.
