Olowola said the roadmap will go a long way to provide sustainability strategies for businesses in the tech space.

“With TTCAR, we aim to empower individuals, businesses and communities to navigate the digital realm responsibly,” she said.

“The roadmap will guide the global reporting initiative, the international sustainability standards board (ISSB) and more importantly, government guidance around environmental, social and governance metrics.

“We have this very special framework that we’ve developed to guide businesses in the telecom and tech sector.

“We’ve made it simpler for people to do business. We’ve put it together for people to be able to see what the expectations are of you as a business that is looking to grow beyond the shores of Nigeria because we’re not doing local anymore, right? Everybody’s thinking globally.

“So basically you know how it would have been hard for a corporation to go looking for what the government requires of them. So what we’ve done is we’ve made it easier for them to pull together all of these different guidance. We’ve put it together in a way that it’s easily accessible to them so that there’s a pathway.

“So we’ve done all of that groundwork for them in terms of determining the expectations of government of them so that they do not fall into any pitfalls.”

Olowola said the international accounting standards board (IASB) and global reporting initiative (GRI) were considered, as well as government partnership, to come up with the initiative.
