At least two persons have been reportedly abducted by gunmen in an estate in the Kurudu area of the federal capital territory (FCT).
The gunmen were said to have invaded the phase 2 area of the Nigerian Army Post-Service Housing estate around 10 pm on Thursday.
Serving and retired soldiers, as well as civilians, reside in the estate.
A resident of the estate said gunshots rang for several hours.

When contacted for comments, Josephine Adeh, FCT police spokesperson, asked TheCable to reach out to the army for a response.
The invasion of the estate by gunmen is the latest in a series of security breaches and kidnappings in the nation’s capital city.
On January 5, gunmen raided a community in the Bwari area council of Abuja and abducted scores of people, including a family of six sisters.

On Sunday, the abductors killed Nabeeha, one of the six sisters, purportedly as a warning to the family for failing to pay the ransom of N60 million.
Amid the rising insecurity, Nyesom Wike, minister of the FCT, asked residents not to panic, saying the government has taken measures to address the ugly situation.
“All of us are aware of the security situation in FCT, particularly in Bwari and some other areas where we have witnessed security challenges,” he said.
“We will do all we can, and we assure Nigerians who reside here that there is no need for panic. We are taking every step to make sure that the challenges are resolved.”
