Two abducted Kebbi college students regain freedom — after 23 months in captivity

On a Friday afternoon, students of Abarshi Secondary School in Birnin-Yauri prayed for the safe return of the girls in captivity

Two remaining students among those abducted from the Federal Government College (FGC) Birnin-Yauri, in Kebbi state, have reportedly regained freedom.

Salim Ka’oje, chairman of the abducted FGC, Birnin-Yauri students committee, confirmed the development on Thursday.

On June 17, 2021, several students, including teachers of FGC Birnin-Yauri were abducted from their school by some gunmen.

Troops of the Nigerian army rescued some of the students while many others were reportedly released after a ransom was paid.

In May 2023, three more students reportedly regained their freedom.
